Space Art
One fateful evening in 2012, I painted a galaxy on a whim.
Little did I know I was discovering an artistic obsession.
Mad scientist exploration (picture me in the studio mixing cups of paint and sprinkling in all kinds of special ingredients) meets art, my galaxy paintings are a playground for texture, color theory, and depth.
I've been developing and refining my techniques for 12 years now.
Finished galaxy paintings are 25+ layers thick and take 3-4 weeks to complete. I absolutely love the creation process, adding details and color tints bit by bit, building up the spacey atmosphere.
Some pieces are representations of specific galaxies (I take requests!). Others are imaginary, often inspired by several galaxies in one piece.
May this art inspire you to meditate on (and celebrate!) our small place in a giant, mesmerizing, ridiculously beautiful universe.
“The cosmos is within us.
We are made of star-stuff.
We are a way for the universe to know itself.”
My space paintings invite you to zoom in, like a stargazer with a telescope, and get lost in the dancing layers & colors.
<-- This is about a 1.5" wide section of a painting.
